Today, July 20th, Romeoville Fire Academy held their Technical Rescue Course - Rope Operations at Dwight Fire Protection District. This state certified 40-hour course provides the basic skills rescuers need to perform within a rescue company. The course covers the use of rope, rope equipment, low-angle operations, and patient packaging. Although there were brief classroom presentations, most of the course had the students perform practical skills such as constructing and operating lowering systems, mechanical advantage systems, belay and safety systems, and anchor systems using accepted rope rescue practices. |
